0️⃣ Beat / Instrumental 🎼🎧

--Pick your beat before you start recording
--Make sure the beat fits your tempo and vibe
--Always record while listening to the beat in headphones
--Rap or sing on beat, not ahead or behind
--If you're off beat, stop and redo the take

1️⃣ Record in a Good Spot 🏠🎙️

--Use the quietest, smallest room
--Closets and bedrooms work best
--Avoid kitchens, bathrooms, big rooms
--If you have to, record with pillows around you and a blanket over you
--If you hear echo, it's a bad spot

2️⃣ Lead Vocal (Main Voice) 🎤

--Stay about 6–8 inches from the mic
--Use a pop filter or sock
--Make sure you're not distorting/clipping — clips that are recorded too loud or too close to the mic cannot be fixed

✅ 0 dB (good) | ❌ +16 dB (clipping)

3️⃣ Punch-Ins + Multiple Takes (VERY IMPORTANT) 🎯🔁

VERY IMPORTANT

--Don't record the whole song in one take
--Record line by line or bar by bar
--Say every word clearly
--Finish every line strong
--If a line isn't right, punch in and redo just that line
--Record 2–3 full takes total
--Best parts get picked later

This is how clean songs are made.

4️⃣ Stabs (In & Outs) ⚡🔊

--Short extra words or repeated phrases
--Includes both stabs and doubles
--Put them at the end of lines
--Say them a little softer or louder than the lead to add character
--Try harmonies (sing notes above or below the original vocal to stand out and add character)
--Great for hooks and emphasis
--Don't overdo it

5️⃣ Ad-Libs 🎶

--Extra words like 'yeah,' 'uh,' etc.
--Record after the main vocal
--Use them in gaps
--Less is more

6️⃣ Before You Send Your Song (VERY IMPORTANT) 📂

VERY IMPORTANT

--We require separate vocal files (stems) — not one vocal track
--Export each vocal part separately: Lead Vocal, Stabs (In & Outs), Ad-Libs
--Each stem must be its own file
--Start every file at the start of the song
--No effects on vocals unless asked
--No autotune, No reverb, No delay, No compression, No clipping
--Name files clearly (Lead.wav, Stabs.wav, Adlibs.wav)
--WAV files if possible (MP3 is also great — smaller file, more compressed)

7️⃣ Upload Your Files (VERY IMPORTANT) ☁️

--Upload all files to Google Drive or Dropbox
--Put everything in one folder
--Set the link to 'Anyone with the link can view'
--Include the link when booking your mix on Stabs N' Adlibs

No file link = we can't start the mix.
